• T1 Diams en Balade North – A Bright and Meaningful Day at Agiterra

On July 13, the T1 Diams family gathered at Agiterra for a day that once again highlighted the strength and warmth of our community. Nearly a hundred of you joined us, and your presence gave this Northern outing a truly special atmosphere.

From the morning onward, the tone was set: sunshine, good vibes, reunions, and new faces. The place quickly filled with laughter, heartfelt conversations, and that collective energy that lifts everyone up. The discussions were rich, sometimes deep, often encouraging. Everyone had the space to share their experience, their questions, their daily challenges, as well as their personal victories living with type 1 diabetes.

Games and activities added a fun touch, reminding us that living with T1 should never take away moments of joy, relaxation, and connection. Children had their fun, parents found their moments too, and teenagers, as always, brought their energy and spontaneity.

What stood out most was the spirit of solidarity. Seeing so many people gather, exchange freely, help one another, and share practical advice reminded us why T1 Diams exists. Your trust in our team means a lot. It motivates us to keep creating spaces where everyone feels welcomed, understood, and supported.

This day at Agiterra was more than just an outing. It was a moment to strengthen the bond that unites us. A reminder that no one faces type 1 diabetes alone.

  • Annual & Residential Diabetic Camp 2025: Building Knowledge, Confidence, and Community

In August 2025, T1 Diams hosted its annual residential Diabetic Camp under the theme “Act Every Day — Small Steps, Big Change.ˮ This edition once again strengthened our mission and brought together our beneficiaries — children, adolescents, and young adults living with Type 1 diabetes — along with parents, volunteers, and partners, for an intense week of learning, sharing, teamwork, and care.

Far from being just a recreational break, the camp serves as a space for therapeutic education and personal growth, where each participant is encouraged to better understand their condition, listen to their body, manage their treatment, express themselves, and above all, to realize that diabetes does not define who they are.

This year, we also had the great pleasure of welcoming our beneficiaries from Rodrigues, who joined us for the entire duration of the camp. They brought with them their radiant joy and warm energy, infusing the week with a uniquely Rodriguan spirit and rhythm that made the experience even more vibrant and memorable.

Our goal was to offer participants a safe, enriching, and educational environment, focused on self-management, personal development, and mutual support.

The week began with the arrival of the adolescent group, whose enthusiasm and energy set the tone. Early activities combined awareness, protection, and teamwork. A child protection workshop led by Pédostop addressed the prevention of child abuse in Mauritius, while We Recycle facilitated an environmental awareness session highlighting sustainable practices. Participants also strengthened their diabetes knowledge through a therapeutic education activity before taking part in a team-building challenge inspired by Fort Boyard, designed to promote collaboration and unity.

The adventure continued with a coastal hike from Le Souffleur to Pont Naturel, organized by The Nature Boy Adventures Tours, encouraging physical well-being, resilience, and peer support. The day concluded with a seaside lunch generously offered by Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas, adding a special touch to the experience.

The adolescents then took part in a series of empowerment workshops, including a nutrition session focused on preparing simple and balanced meals, and a collaborative cooking activity where they helped prepare dishes for the group. A drug awareness and sexual health session led by Mr. Jacques Achille from PILS provided a safe space for open discussion and questions. The evening ended on a festive note with a tropical-themed celebration, featuring music and entertainment by Léonardo Montézuma and his team.

Later in the week, the camp opened its doors to the broader T1 Diams community for the Open Day, bringing together children, adolescents, parents, young adults, volunteers, partners, sponsors, and media collaborators. The day was filled with fun games, meaningful exchanges, and a tasting of Dodo Noirʼs sugar-free chocolate, crafted by one of our own beneficiaries. This event also marked the transition between the adolescent group and the younger participants, who joined the camp with their parents for the final phase.

The last two days focused on family learning and connection, featuring workshops, games, and guided activities designed to strengthen diabetes education, mutual support, and family involvement in Type 1 diabetes management.

The 2025 Diabetic Camp concluded with a deep sense of unity, resilience, and collective achievement. T1 Diams warmly thanks all volunteers, partners, and supporters whose dedication made this edition possible. We look forward to reuniting with our community in 2026 for another inspiring and empowering experience.
